Data Domain Virtual Edition 3.0 Configure DD Boost

In this quick article I would like to continue the setup for the creation of a DD Boost user we can then leverage when Backup solutions like Veeam, the vSphere Data Protection and others can use to integrate with the EMC Data Domain Virtual Appliance.

The process is very easy and can be done also from the GUI that we can recall from Main Menu > Maintenance > Configure System. Let’s select a “No” for all sections until we reach the desired one for the DD Boost Protocol as per screenshots below.

In my example I will create a new Storage Unit ¬†and a User specifically for the Veeam Backup and Replication platform. For security let’s make sure the new user we create (for DD Boost protocol purposes) has the no Management Role. This can be edited later on if required

Next is a confirmation of the settings before committing

At this point the Storage Unit and User have been created. For more information and changing details we can review all the pertinent settings from the relevant sections in Main Menu > Protocols > DD Boost

Check DD Boost Active Connections by connected clients, interfaces and Replications with other Data Domain instances

Associated IP Networks when configured to talk with different subnets

And last but not least the Storage Unit details associated with a particular DD Boost User

And this covers pretty much the creation of a Data Domain User for DD Boost protocol when integrating with third parties Backup Solutions
