Exchange 2016: Install on Windows 2012 R2

Exchange 2016 installation

Here we are with a new series of articles related to Exchange 2016 deployment touching the most important steps during first installation and configurations. Due to the number of screenshots and different topics this series has been divided with different posts covering:

Exchange 2016: Install on a Windows Server 2012 R2

Before installing Exchange 2016 it is necessary to run some preliminary steps which will help preparing and extending the Active Directory Schema. In my case for this lab installation I will be pointing to a Domain Controller based on Windows Server 2012 R2 after a migration from a Windows Server 2008. Even though it was not strictly necessary  I also raised the Domain Functional Level from 2008 to 2012R2. The minimum level supported for AD functional level is 2003.

There are also other prerequisites pertinent to Active Directory preparation which include:

  • .NET 4.5.2
